Synopsis: Masterpiece
Ermanno Olmi, who won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1978. The film takes place in the Italian region of Bergamo in the late nineteenth century, and describes with great sensitivity and actually the most worthy extraordinary life of the rural poor, who get ahead in difficult living conditions. The camera focuses attention on the group of families sharing a dwelling on land to the tenant must provide two thirds of their crops.
